George McIvor
Former Chairman of The Master Chefs of Great Britain 2005-2007 and CIS Chef of the year 2007.
A chef by background, George has enjoyed a highly creative career based on an extensive knowledge of the food industry gained over 30 years experience in the UK and international markets, from his early days in the kitchens of 4 and 5 star hotels, to running his own team of 20 chefs at a luxury Scottish Hotel to more recently the role of Executive Development Chef for a prominent Food Manufacturer. In all aspects of his work, George has achieved the highest recognition for his continued pursuit of excellence. In 2006 George established The Full Range Ltd, a Culinary Consultancy offering innovative ideas and creative solutions to the food industry, the company is headed by George and backed up by specialists who have a driving passion food excellence.
George has been involved in the championships since its inception and is a familiar face that is warmly welcomed back each year.
Colin Bussey
Former Executive Chef of Gleneagles Hotel and P&O ‘s Oriana cruise ship, Colin Bussey, now runs a food and beverage consultancy specialising in supporting all areas of the food business including new product design, processing, manufacturing to food service. Colin has been a previous judge and we are pleased to have someone of his pedigree return for yet another year.
Karen Mackenzie –Celebrity Guest Judge
Karen Mackenzie grew up in Rothiemurchus just outside Aviemore and left home at 17 to study in Edinburgh – moving to Glasgow in the mid 80s. Having worked across a number of departments at BBC Scotland, Karen is currently working alongside stand up comedian Fred MacAulay – producing and co-hosting his Radio show. Karen likes to get out on her bicycle as much as possible and recently completed a 60 mile overnight cycle from Manchester to Blackpool to raise awareness for the British Heart Foundation.
