Runners of all ages are being invited to sign up for the annual Carrbridge Challenge Forest Run.
The event, which takes place on woodland tracks and trails around the village on Sunday October 10, is organised to coincide with the World Porridge Making Championships.
There will be a 5km, 3km and minis fun run with commemorative medals and hand-crafted spurtles for the winners in each of the main categories.
The organisers are also hoping that the runners will also take the opportunity to help raise funds for the Scottish-based charity, Mary’s Meals.
The fund-raising, which is purely on a voluntary basis, gives the chance for participants to either make a donation or collect sponsorship money on behalf of the charity which feeds more than 400,000 of some of the poorest and neediest children in the world. The Carrbridge Challenge Forest Run is supported by Remax Cairngorm and organised on behalf of Carrbridge Community Council as part of a whole day of activities surrounding the famous World Porridge Making Championships.
A record number of people of all ages entered in last year’s Forest Run and organisers hope that many more will take part this year.
“It is a fun family event and with the choice of either signing up for the 3km or the longer 5km route, everyone can make it as challenging for themselves as they wish,” said community council chairman, Scot Bruce.
The run, which also includes a minis fun run round the playing fields for younger children, is set to get off to a flying start with a mass aerobic warm up led by local fitness instructor, Sam Bain.
Entry forms for the Forest Run can be downloaded from the World Porridge Making Championship website at www.goldenspurtle.com or can be obtained by contacting the organisers by email to worldporridge@aol.com or by telephoning 01479 841211.
