Sunne gets set to host Nordic Porridge Competition

First off, it’s great to see our new Golden Spurtle website finally up and running with many thanks to Fergus Thom for all the help with getting it together.  Our  thanks also go to oatmeal producers, Hamlyns of Scotland for the continued sponsorship of the annual World Porridge Making Championship.

The 17th World Porridge Making Championship is scheduled to be held in the Scottish Highland village of Carrbridge on Sunday October 10 – the iconic date 10.10.10.  There’s lots of exciting developments in the pipeline and we’ll try and keep everyone posted in the countdown to the event.

Meanwhile, porridge is all set to be big news in Sweden this weekend as the town of Sunne gets ready to host the first ever Nordic Porridge Cooking Competition.  We’ll be interested to see how our Nordic cousins get on especially as the winner will be heading for the Scottish Highlands  to compete in the 2010 World Championship.
